About dldb

What this is

A database of Deadlock heroes, items, builds and patches. Every ability number, cost and cooldown is read directly out of the game files rather than transcribed by hand, and every patch is diffed stat by stat so the site can show what changed and when — including the changes Valve did not write down.

Where the data comes from

What we do not publish

Deadlock's files contain heroes and items that are flagged as in development, disabled or not player-selectable. None of it appears anywhere on this site — not on a page, not in a patch diff, not in a search result. The filter is applied when data is ingested, again when it is read, and a third time when patch diffs are published, because an unreleased hero appearing in a “what changed” list is exactly the kind of leak that is easy to ship by accident.

We also do not host Valve's artwork. The site is text and numbers.

How numbers are described

A change is only called a buff or a nerf where the direction is unambiguous — more damage is better, a longer cooldown is worse. Plenty of stats are genuinely ambiguous: a longer duration is good on your own buff and bad on a slow applied to you. Those are reported as a change with the before and after values, and no judgement. Every win rate is shown with the number of matches behind it.

Corrections

If a number here disagrees with the game, the game is right and we want to know. The most likely cause is a patch we have not ingested yet — check the patch list for the most recent build we hold.
